Case study 05 / EV mobility
VoltRide
A connected ride experience spanning the rider, vehicle, backend, and fleet team.

The product
VoltRide supports the complete electric ride journey, from discovering a nearby vehicle to unlocking it, tracking the live trip, ending the ride, and completing payment.
Behind that rider experience, fleet teams need visibility into location, battery, charging, availability, and vehicle health.
The challenge
An EV mobility app coordinates software with a physical vehicle in the real world. Availability can change. Bluetooth can fail. Battery and location continue to move. A trip must never exist in two conflicting states.
The challenge was to keep the mobile app, backend, vehicle connection, and fleet view aligned throughout every transition.
01 / Product thinking
Designing the complete rider flow
The experience brings together ride discovery, vehicle range, safety status, reservation, BLE or QR unlock, and live trip information.
Each step needed a clear success state, a useful recovery path, and a shared understanding of the current vehicle and trip status.
- Nearby ride discovery
- BLE and QR unlock
- Live trip state
- Fare and payment

02 / Product thinking
Connecting the ride to fleet operations
The operational side made vehicle health, battery condition, charging, location, and availability visible to the fleet team.
That connection allowed the rider product to stay accurate while giving operators the information needed to keep vehicles ready and in service.

The outcome
One product, connected from experience to operations.
VoltRide makes a technically complex mobility system feel like one understandable ride to the customer.
The product also gives fleet operators a connected view of the vehicles and states that determine whether that experience works in the real world.
